Recognising the effect good sleep has on energy and productivity, OTTY has made it its mission to give you a restful night. Since their launch in 2017, the Yorkshire-based brand has then made available sleep products ranging from innovative mattresses to bed frames.
After numerous tests, the sleep company has perfected their popular OTTY Mattress, a hybrid bed-in-a-box combining the comfort of memory foam and support of spring coils for the best comfort. With such products receiving recognition from award-giving bodies like the Which? Consumers’ Association, the sleep company has been expanding their operations across Europe.
The Otty mattress scored a 6.8 in the Ergonomics test. This test evaluates three things – point elasticity, ergonomics, and stabilization.
The point elasticity tells how good a mattress is when it comes to isolating motion on a single side of the mattress. Otty’s score is not bad hence we can assume that this mattress is able to deliver good motion isolation – meaning you won’t be disturbed by a tossing and turning sleeping partner.
Ergonomics meanwhile looks at the number of zone support a mattress has for spinal alignment. Otty offers a good amount of support which ensures spinal alignment from head to toe, regardless of your sleeping position.
Durability is one of the things we test because we use a mattress for a good number of years, so we need to make sure the mattress are durable. Otty scored a 6.8 for durability. This means that under a heavy roller simulating 10 years of usage, the Otty mattress had some sag and change in its form but it is still in relatively good condition.
Otty weighs 18.7kgs which is slightly on the heavy side. It has some handles but it’s located at the bottom of the mattress making it a little difficult to move around, but it’s possible.
The OTTY Mattress cover is made from a flexible material resistant to wrinkling and shrinkage. Being a thick knit cover, it also provides additional softness as you sleep. All of this is completely removable and machine washable for maximum cleanliness and comfort.
Top cover: Made of 97% polyester and 3% spandex
As a hybrid mattress, the original OTTY mattress boasts a total of four layers plus an additional side layer to support all sleeping positions and body types. The topmost layer is an innovative temperature-regulating memory foam, followed by a Reflex foam for support, 2,000 encapsulated 16cm pocket springs for a medium-firm feel, and a high-density base foam for a solid foundation as you sleep. Meanwhile, the side-support layer surrounding all these provides airflow and temperature regulation.
The Otty Hybrid Mattress is a good choice if you are looking for a mattress to purchase. While slightly heavy, it promises to improve your sleep experience when you use it.
